Artwork for MAKING IT HOME

Writing gives me opportunity to create art, but I also find I’m exploring art to aid and develop my storytelling.

One great thing about writing is you can explore houses for sale, locations, shops (online preferably for this) and become deeply acquainted with objects, houses and more, with no intention or possibility of owning them! For the duration of your creative process, they do actually become yours! (I’m not suggesting you contact estate agents, obtain particulars and view properties of course… )

For MAKING IT HOME I needed pictures of a silver clock that supported what I had in my imagination. This is what I found:

I had the detailed description from the antiques website and learned all about these little carriage clocks, returning to the picture to consolidate what I had in my mind. The clock has now sold (the asking price was approximately £2000), but while I wrote the novel I had the pasted details to hand, in case it disappeared from view overnight.
